Prospect Housing and Support Services.

Housing care and support for disabled people and their carers

The Board

Prospect’s members elect a Board to direct the organisation.  Board members receive no payment for their service.

The Board has overall responsibility for Prospect’s affairs.   It decides policy and strategic direction and it monitors performance. It also approves annual budgets and annual accounts. It satisfies itself that Prospect’s affairs are conducted lawfully and in accordance with generally accepted standards of performance and propriety.   Day to day management is delegated to the Chief Executive, who is the senior executive member of staff.

As Prospect is a charitable organisation, members of its Board also have the duties and responsibilities of charity trustees.

To be eligible for election to Prospect’s Board, a person must either be an individual member of the organisation or be proposed by an organisation (“body corporate”) which is a member.   The Board may co-opt persons to serve on it who are not required to meet these eligibility criteria. Board members are chosen to give Prospect a wide range of skills and experience relevant to its activities.

All members of the Board share responsibility for its decisions.   Each has a duty to act in the best interests of Prospect, whether or not they have been proposed for election by another organisation.
