User Involvement

We are committed to encouraging users of our services to become involved in Prospect at all levels. Feedback from service users is essential for us to run the organisation effectively.

We do this in a number of ways:

Employment Opportunities

We strive to offer employment opportunities to service users. This year we have employed twelve service users as gardeners. We also have two office workers who are provided with support from Employability and SCOPE. We have also provided support to one young person in work experience whilst using our Breaks for Carers service.

Helping to recruit staff

Service users are actively involved in the recruitment and selection of new staff wherever possible. Following training, we ask service users to help us in shortlisting and interviewing potential staff. We also ask service users to show prospective staff around the schemes and to write pen pictures.

House Meetings

Service users have their say in regular house meetings in the schemes where they live. Wherever possible, service users manage these meetings themselves so that they can talk about what is really important to them.

Staff Meetings

In many schemes, service users attend the monthly staff meetings. This allows people living in the homes to help with the budgets and finances and to discuss issues that affect them and their homes.

Planning care and support

We aim to provide a user led care and support service. To help to achieve this, we make sure service users are central to planning the care and support that they need. If they choose to, service users may bring an advocate, friend or family member with them to any meetings about their care and support.

Holidays, Outings and Events

Service users are asked to choose outings and holidays every year. Over the last year service users have been to many destinations in the UK and abroad, such as Spain, Devon and Dorset.

Each scheme hosts events during the year where service users invite their friends and families as well as people from other schemes. Events over the last year have included fetes, barbeques, picnics and parties.
