History

Prospect was formed in 1989 at the instigation of several local organisations and authorities who wanted to improve housing facilities for people with learning disabilities and people with mental ill-health.

Prospect is formed as an Industrial and Provident Society and is regulated by the Financial Services Authority. In 1994 it adopted revised rules virtually identical to the modern rules for a charitable housing association published by the National Housing Federation.
