Training

 

Prospect is committed to providing learning opportunities for its service users, staff and Board members in order to maximise potential, increase confidence and improve skills.  We also have a firm belief in the importance of training in reinforcing in individuals our positive values, attitude and culture. In order to achieve this, the past year has seen the consolidation of our training provision as well as improvements in many areas:

We have received approval from City and Guilds to operate as a registered centre providing NVQs at levels 2, 3 and 4 in Health and Social Care and the Registered Managers Adult Award.

Service users are encouraged to access the training courses that we provide. Over the year, service users have participated in training sessions in key topics such as Moving and Handling and Fire Awareness.

All of the training run by our Training Centre has been updated to meet the new Common Induction Standards.

 

Over the last year Prospect has delivered a varied and comprehensive in-house training programme for staff and service users. The training is mainly held in our Training Centre and has covered the following subjects:-

Induction; LDAF workshops; Values; Age Discrimination; Dual Diagnosis; Report Writing; Motivational Interviewing; Makaton; Alcohol; Drugs; Conflict Management; Equality, Diversity & Discrimination; Person Centred Planning; Communication; Health & Safety; Food Hygiene; Fire Safety; Administration of Medicines; First Aid; Adult Protection; Moving and Handling; Risk Assessment; Mental Health Awareness; Learning Disability; and Confidentiality.

New training events this year have included Dementia, Time management and Stesolid training. In the coming months we will develop training in the Mental Capacity Act 2005.
